Functionality does not exclude sensibility.

Jacques Hitier (1917-1999) was a fervent advocate ot the UAM’s (Union des Artistes Modernes) principles. His designs remained nonetheless very playful by his use of colour and curved shapes. He started working with Mobilor which produced children’s furniture. After the war he worked at the head of Design at Tubauto for 15 years which makes him one of the first French industrial designers. He is best known for his tubular structured furniture.
Thanks to him the French term « décorateur » (decorator) was replaced by «  architecte d’intérieur » (interior architect) which was more representative of the function.
