Wall desk, French Reconstruction, Sicam, 1955.

Marcel GASCOIN

Ravishing wall mounted desk / secretaire from the French Reconstruction.

It was designed by Marcel Gascoin for Sicam in 1955.

A real treasure when space is scarce.

Please note :

  • Signs of wear,
  • There are holes on the left of the desktop and on the left side of the inner case : there used to be an arm holding the desk open.

Marcel Gascoin (1907-1986) is one of the key figure of the french Reconstruction. He is one of those young creators who turn their backs on decorum Art Deco and campaign for simple and modular furniture, accessible to the greatest number.

In 1948, in order to produce his own furniture, he creates ARHEC (Aménagement rationnel de l’habitation et des collectivités aka Rational Development of Housing and Communities).
