Marcel Gascoin (1907-1986) is one of the key figure of the french Reconstruction. He is one of the Young French designers who turned their backs on Art Deco decorum and campaigned for simple modular furniture, accessible to the greater number.

In 1948, in order to produce his own furniture, he created ARHEC (Aménagement rationnel de l’habitation et des collectivités aka Rational Development of Housing and Communities).
