Set of two CD chairs by Marcel Gascoin.

This is the most simple model published by Arhec in the 1950’s.

The structure of the chairs is in solid oak, the seats and backs are in 8 mm oak veneered plywood.

  • The edge of the seats and backs show staple marks as can be seen on the pictures.

Marcel Gascoin (1907-1986) is one of the key figure of the french Reconstruction. He is one of those young creators who turn their backs on decorum Art Deco and campaign for simple and modular furniture, accessible to the greatest number.

In 1948, in order to produce his own furniture, he creates ARHEC (Aménagement rationnel de l’habitation et des collectivités aka Rational Development of Housing and Communities).
