Marcel GASCOIN

AA cabinet designed by Marcel Gascoin and published by his own company ARHEC in the fifties.

Clever design which allows the shelves to be moved up and down depending on what you would like to store.

A huge storage capacity.

On the left side it features a hanger rod and a mirror on the door. On the right side numerous drawers of difference sizes. More shelves on the door.

Marcel Gascoin (1907-1986) is one of the key figure of the french Reconstruction. He is one of those young creators who turn their backs on decorum Art Deco and campaign for simple and modular furniture, accessible to the greatest number.

In 1948, in order to produce his own furniture, he creates ARHEC (Aménagement rationnel de l’habitation et des collectivités aka Rational Development of Housing and Communities).

Please note

  • the wood around the handles has darkened with time,
  • the bottom of the wardrobe on the inside shows numerous scratches due to the friction of the doors ,
  • the shelves on the right side are stained and scratched as well.
